Although
the users provided positive results that the system will improve
communication, it is insufficient to conclude that the system
improve communication between tutors and students . In addition, the
survey showed that most of the SHAWCO K2 students have no access to mobile
phones capable of running MXIT. We therefore, conclude that the system failed to improve
communication for the SHAWCO K2 Center Organization.
However, this can give different results in different
situations.
Based on the results from the user evaluations and
the lack of time and resources, the following future work and
recommendation may be drawn:
-
Both SMS and MXIT should be used
to send messages.Since
the current system uses MXIT to send messages; and that most of the
students at the K2 Center do not have MXIT mobile phones. It will
be reasonable to use both the SMS and MXIT technologies to
exchange messages. This will accommodate everyone with and without MXIT, GTalk, MSN, AIM and other chat services. MXIT
mobile phone survey proved that most of the astudents have access to simple SMS
mobile phones capable of sending and receiving tetxt messages.
-
The system should allow both
tutors and students to use the Moodle web interface to send
messages. The current Moodle
interface to send messages between tutors, teachers and
students, allows tutors to send message(s) to user(s). It
would be reasonable to customize Moodle mobile learning to allow
students to send and read messages using the web interface.
-
Need a way to tag replies
from tutors. The current
MXIT Library does
not allow the tagging of new incoming messages in order to
associate the reply with a question. The current system uses
tutor 's mobile number as a way to tag the message. The
disadvantage of the usage of mobile number to tag messages is
that there is no one tutor that can be sent two messages at the
same time. If one tutor can be sent two messages at the
same time, it will be impossible to identify the replies that
will be sent by a tutor. If more messages than tutors are sent
to the system, the system will delegate all the jobs to all the
tutors, thus cause the system to be overloaded especially when
the tutors do not reply in time. This feature will increase the
response time of the questions posted by the student.
-
There was a need for time to
develop the system
at the SHAWCO K2 Center . In the future, it would be reasonable
to deploy the system at the center and allow users to
realistically use the system and give relevant and reliable
feed back.
